Business as usual at Trewithen Dairy Working hard for the community

At Trewithen Dairy we remain committed to creating the best products we can. We are living through difficult times therefore we are even more appreciative of the great team work we have with our farmers, staff, and customers in delivering our services to local communities across the South West. We are staying well informed of the situation and are following the advice and recommendations from the government, Public Health England and World Health Organisation.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO EMPHASISE THAT CORONAVIRUS DOES NOT PRESENT ANY FOOD SAFETY ISSUE.

The following statement outlines the steps we take to provide a safe and clean environment to create our high quality milk and dairy products.

Traceability

We have full traceability of all the Cornish farms we work with to create Trewithen Dairy products. There are tests carried out at every stage of our production process, from milking, to manufacturing, to logistical handling, to the end consumer. Each step is quality checked and documented.

Supply

There are currently no underlying problems with our stock-levels or supply. Due to the stringent measures being taken, we see production being maintained during this pandemic.

Our process

Our modern, self-contained and well-invested dairy is amongst the very best processing in the industry, ensuring efficiency, impeccable cleanliness and product quality.

We use a chill-chain process to ensure an uninterrupted series of refrigerated production until it reaches the consumer.

Dairy cows need to be milked regardless of consumer demand, so each farm has steps in place to ensure they will continue to be milked daily.

Milk is collected at the farm and transported by tanker to the dairy where it is pasteurised and homogenised. Each batch of milk is laboratory tested to ensure it is fresh and delicious.

Transportation

We are in daily contact with our drivers transporting products, who continue to be stringent around hygiene and cleaning regimes, including frequent handwashing.

Our workforce

Non-factory employees are working remotely to avoid contracting and spreading the virus. Any employee who feels like they are showing symptoms of the virus, even as mildly as a cold, are being instructed to self-isolate.

Factory workers have changed their production techniques to create more space between employees.

As a business, we remain focused and vigilant. We look forward to brighter times but thank every one of our farmers, staff and customers for their incredible support during these testing times.
